News Update
The Kiwanis of West Park are proud to announce that we are preparing for our 22nd. year of sponsorship for our 4th. of July parade at Kamms corners.
We usually have over 100 participants that stretch out for over a mile in length and is viewed by approx. 15,000 people. Anyone interested in or knows someone interested in participating are welcome to join us in this patriotic endeaver.
We are proud to announce that Grace Leon will be our Parade Marshall this year. Grace Leon became a police widow on June 25th. 2000. Her husband Wayne Leon,a Cleveland Police officer, was shot in the face and left to die. While grieving, Grace realized her mission for the rest of her life would be to help others in similar situations.
Since his death, she has been left alone to raise their three children, who are now ages 6, 8, and 9. Grace is very involved in the community. She is a regional director for Ohio Concerns of Police Survivors, co-chairs the Cleveland Heroes Run, and helps co-ordinate events that benefit Providence House, a local charity helping children in crisis.
In addition, Grace assists police survivors as they begin their journey through the grief process to let them know that they are not alone. Through her tragedy, Grace has come full circle, and is now reaching out to help others in need. She gathers strength from her deep faith in God, family, friends, and support from police organizations.
We are always in need of marching bands or other musical venues. Applications will be available in April. Further information may be obtained from Cliff LaRocque @(216) 252-1364 or E-mail cliff-larocque@sbcglobal.net
